“Nkakra Nkakra” means “Stadia” or “little by little” in Twi. I gave this name to this wall hanging because I can see the pattern of lines moving separately in phases. The definition of stages in life. One day at a time or one step at a time.

Material: handmade cotton, dyed with fermented mud

Mudcloth is a woven material from Mali. It is their traditional clothing that is worn by the different tribes in Mali. It used to be used in wedding ceremonies, but today it is used for multiple purposes. The natural dye consists of plant remains, trees and river mud. Each piece is hand painted and therefore unique and has minor imperfections. The African names come from the language 'Twi', one of the 75 spoken languages in Ghana.
